Intel Corporation has a long, proud track record of reducing its climate footprint. We have achieved a 31% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2000, even as we expanded our manufacturing capacity more than 2.5x. In that time, we increased global use of renewable energy to 71%, with 100% in the US and EU, and we conserved over 4.5 billion kWh of energy between 2012 and 2020. We have driven a 14x improvement in product energy efficiency for notebooks and an 8.5x improvement in data center products since 2010.

Our 2030 goals will enable us to continue to reduce our carbon impact even as we continue to grow our manufacturing operations. We seek to increase our global use of renewable energy to 100%, conserve an additional 4 billion kWh of energy in our operations, drive an additional 10% reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, and increase the energy efficiency of our client and server chips by 10x to reduce our Scope 3 emissions.

Beyond our own operations and products, we have committed to work toward carbon neutral computing. While we continue to reduce our own global manufacturing climate footprint, we will also take actions with others to collectively expand the technology “handprint”— applying technology to reduce climate impacts across the rest of the global economy. This will include working with partners to reduce the climate footprint of the global manufacturing industry, as well as that of the building, transportation, and other sectors of the economy.
